One of my favorite paintings from one of my favorite movements, Italian Futurism. “Dynamic Hieroglyphic of the Bal Tabarin” by Gino Severini was painted in 1912. Paintings of this movement focus on movement, chaos, and technology. This was created during the larger Modernist period, but it does not completely fulfill the modernist critique under the lens of prominent writers such as Krauss and Greenberg as it has a subject, a dance scene, and includes other materials than just paint such as rhinestones.
